“Two Car Collision”
LITTLEROCK, CALIFORNIA (March 6, 2017) – 48 -year-old Jamie Vargas was involved in a collision Monday evening in the community of Littlerock east of Palmdale, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The accident occurred at approximately 7:09 p.m. when Vargas, driving a 1996 Toyota Corolla, was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 21-year-old Adolfo Gallardo. Gallardo was traveling southbound on 96th Street East and failed to stop at a stop sign on East Avenue S. Both vehicles spun out of control to the southeast corner of the intersection. The two passengers in the Silverado were thrown from the pickup. The Corolla collided into a gas main causing it burst, according to the CHP authorities.
All of the victims involved in the collision, sustained major injuries. Emergency crews were called to the scene and transported all of the occupants of the collision to the hospital for treatment of those major injuries. There was an evacuation of the three homes nearby. Police concluded that drugs and/or alcohol were not factors in the collision.
