“State Fair Ride Malfunctions”
COLUMBUS, OHIO (July 26, 2017) – Jacob Andrews has been identified as one of the seven people injured in an state fair accident in Columbus on Wednesday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
Around 7:30 pm, the “Fire Ball” pendulum style ride malfunctioned, throwing several people from the ride as much as 40 feet. It is unclear as to why the ride malfunctioned, but witnesses at the scene say they heard people screaming for the ride to slow down just before someone flew off. A chair arm also detached from the ride.
One person was killed, and seven more were injured including Jacob Andrews. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
