The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 101 and Masten Avenue. A motorcyclist, identified as 25-year-old Ismael Loza, was heading eastbound on Masten Avenue when a white Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old man turned in front of him to reach Highway 101 southbound. The motorcycle then collided with the pickup truck, which was reportedly traveling around 10 mph.

Ismael Loza was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Ford did not report any injuries and initial reports indicate alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
