“Deadly Car Accident”
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (JULY 22, 2017) – 26-year-old Jamie R. Lopez was involved in a deadly car crash early Saturday morning, according to Irvine police. (map)
Police responded to the incident at approximately 2:20 a.m. The accident was took place on the northbound side of Jamboree Road between Kelvin Avenue and Main Street, according to Irvine police spokeswoman Kim Mohr.
Rescue crews arrived at the scene to find a Chevrolet Corvette and a fire hydrant that was sheared off. Lopez and two other occupants were in the Corvette. Lopez along with another occupant, later identified as 29-year-old Nancy A. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant, a male whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and liability of the collision.
