IRVINE, CA (February 16, 2017) – A woman was struck by a vehicle on the southbound 405 Freeway near Highway 133 on Thursday morning. (map)

The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. The woman was walking northbound on the southbound 405 lanes when she was struck. According to the police, a green Ford Expedition as well as a Volkswagon van were the two vehicles involved in this crash. Sadly, the woman succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash, according to police reports.

The manner of their involvement remains unclear and an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause and liability.
