“Under investigation”

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (January 14, 2017) – According to the Irvine Police Department, 4-year-old Zhiyu Guo was struck and killed by a car at the intersection of Lake Forest Drive and Romano. (map)

IPD spokesperson Kim Mohr reported that Guo was crossing the intersection on his scooter when a Honda CR-V crashed into the pedestrian child. The driver of the CR-V transported Guo and his parents to Hoag Hospital Irvine.

Mohr states that Guo was later transported to Children’s Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m.

“According to experts, drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said a California pedestrian accident and personal injury lawyer.
