Sheriff’s Sergeant Luis Chavez reported that multiple vehicles attempted to avoid the man as he was crossing through traffic until he stepped into the path of a Nissan Altima, driven by a 19-year-old woman. The Altima struck the 27-year-old around 10:30 p.m.
Sergeant Chavez stated that the victim was transported to UC San Diego Medical Center with major head trauma.
“The conventional wisdom is that the pedestrian always has the right of way. This is not always the case and creates a dangerous situation. Many pedestrian deaths and injuries can be avoided by both drivers and pedestrians being alert and cautious,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
