HORNBROOK, CALIFORNIA (April 19, 2017) – A semi truck was involved in a collision on the 5 Freeway on Wednesday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol report. (map)
The accident happened around 9:15 am on the southbound side of Interstate 5, near the Hornbrook Agricultural station. A gold Volvo sedan was involved in a collision with a semi truck that reportedly left the scene after the accident. The impact was enough to cause the airbags to deploy in the Volvo.
A man in the sedan sustained serious injuries, including a broken ankle. Paramedics rushed to the scene, and the man’s current condition is unknown. The accident remains under active investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
