HONOLULU, HAWAII (July 29, 2017) – A small plane that went missing on Friday was found on Saturday with all four on board deceased, according to a local news source. (map)
The small plane took off from the Honolulu airport on Friday later afternoon, and went missing just after 6:30 pm. A search and rescue operation located the plane’s wreckage in a remote mountainside area around 3:20 pm on Saturday.
All four on board the plane were killed. They have been identified as pilot Dean Hutton, Alexis Aaron, 28 year old Gerrit Evensen, and 27 year old Heather Riley.
An uncle of pilot Dean Hutton says the plane may have had maintenance issues, and that Dean Hutton knew about the issues and chose to fly the plane anyway.
The registered owner of the plane was identified as Jahn Mueller. Jahn Mueller owned another small plane that crashed on June 30th with three people on board. The NTSB’s preliminary report on the June 30th crash indicates that the plane lost power shortly after takeoff. The investigation into Friday’s accident is just beginning.
