HOLLAND, MICHIGAN (August 1, 2017) – A man was killed and another was injured in a construction accident at the Civic Center on Tuesday, according to a local news source. (map)
The Holland Civic Center, located at 150 W 8th Street, is under construction as part of a renovation project. On Tuesday, a portion of the roof near the entrance collapsed, trapping one man beneath and striking another a short distance away.
The man that was pinned under the roof was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, and the one struck by debris was rushed to a local hospital. He has been listed in stable condition as of Wednesday. The accident remains under investigation at this time, but initial reports indicate the two men were subcontractors.
