Authorities spotted a teal Honda Civic that had been reported stolen the day before, and attempted to pull the driver over. He veered into the parking lot of a Rite Aid on Main Street before pulling out onto Eleventh Avenue at a high rate of speed. He then crashed into a black Volkswagen Jetta head on.
The driver of the stolen car, identified as 26 year old James Long from Victorville, was declared dead at the scene. The driver and passenger in the Jetta, 49 year old Ana Ramirez de Franco and 44 year old Jose Barba Franco were both airlifted from the scene with injuries, and hospitalized in unknown condition. The accident remains under investigation to determine cause and liability.
