The small plane, described as a two-seater, custom built hobby aircraft, took off from the Hesperia Airport on Tuesday morning. The plane got about 50 feet up into the air before it abruptly nosedived and crashed on Santa Fe Avenue.
The pilot, identified as 55 year old Robert Alexander, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
