The accident happened around 11:15 p.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 294, heading to Interstate 80 westbound. A black 2017 Ford SUV attempted to pass a semi-truck by driving on the right shoulder, then lost control and struck the wall and then the semi-truck it was trying to pass. The SUV ricocheted out from between the semi truck and the wall and rear ended a second semi-truck.
49-year-old Reshma Khan, a passenger in the car, was rushed to Christ Medical Center where she sadly was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the SUV, identified only as a male, suffered minor injuries in the accident and was hospitalized. The accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Reshma Khan as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
