HARVE DE GRACE, MARYLAND (May 15, 2017) – A commuter bus overturned after an accident on Interstate 95 on Monday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 9:30 am on Interstate 95 near Exit 89. A charter bus was involved in an accident for an unknown reason. Three other buses were spotted at the scene, but it is unknown if they were involved in the accident. Police were interviewing the driver of a passenger car at the scene as well that may have been involved in the collision.The bus sheared a tree off and destroyed a large portion of guardrail in the accident.

At least 25-30 people were injured in the accident, and two people were airlifted from the scene. One person with critical injuries was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, and another was taken to A.I. DuPont Hospital. Several reports indicate there were 26 children on board, three adult chaperones, and one driver. The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
