GRIDLEY, CALIFORNIA (December 29, 2016) – A pedestrian was killed in a tragic accident on Thursday night when they were struck by a car on Highway 99, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened on Highway 99, near Obermeyer Avenue. A pedestrian was found lying in the road around 5:37 pm, having been struck by a car moments before, which subsequently fled the scene.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived on scene, and authorities are searching for the vehicle that struck the pedestrian, and attempting to determine liability.
