The accident happened on a private road leading to the Horseshoe Bend Estates on the north end of Kelso. A car carrying two people attempted to cross the train tracks and was struck by a northbound Amtrak train.
29 year old Gildardo Cruz Vera Strickler was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and was tragically killed. Also killed was passenger 32 year old Sonya Sussanna Wallace. The crossing is equipped with warning signs, but no crossing arms, and was the site of another fatal accident in January of 2015. Friday’s accident remains under investigation.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends affected by this tragic accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.”
