GARDEN GROVE, CALIFORNIA (January 21, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on Haster Street and Lampson Avenue on Saturday evening, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 6:00 pm at the intersection of Haster Street and Lampson Avenue. A pedestrian identified as 50 year old Santiago Sanchez-Mendez was crossing the intersection inside a marked crosswalk when a vehicle turning from Lampson onto Haster struck him.

Santiago Sanchez-Mendez was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. The driver that struck him remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities in their ongoing investigation.
