GARDEN GROVE: Pedestrian Santiago Sanchez-Mendez Dies After Being Struck by Car on Haster Street and Lampson Avenue

GARDEN GROVE, CALIFORNIA (January 21, 2017) – A fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Saturday evening, just before 6 p.m., on Haster Street and Lampson Avenue. (map)

The collision occurred when the pedestrian, identified as 50-year-old Santiago Sanchez-Mendez, was crossing the street in the crosswalk. A vehicle attempting to make a right turn from Lampson Avenue onto Haster Street stuck Sanchez-Mendez.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and Sanchez-Mendez was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Sadly, he was pronounced dead later that night.

Police are still investigating the accident to determine the cause.
