DESERT CENTER, CALIFORNIA (May 31, 2017) – Gabby Constante has been identified as one of four people killed in a horrible car accident on Highway 177 on Memorial Day afternoon, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened on Highway 177, about 20 miles north of Desert Center. Gabby Constante, an assistant coach for a local high school soccer team, was heading back from a Memorial Day vacation in Arizona. With her was her boyfriend, head coach Matt Hughes, 20 year old Melissa Garnica and 21 year old Jessica Gilardo. The four were inside a 2012 Toyota Corolla heading southbound on Highway 177, when they crossed into the path of a northbound big rig and collided head on for an unknown reason.
Gabby Constante was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed in the accident was her boyfriend, Matt Hughes, and both Jessica Gilardo and Melissa Garnica. The accident remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
