The accident happened around 8:30 am on West Gettysburg Avenue and North Polk Avenue near Teague Elementary School. A female walking inside a crosswalk was allegedly struck by an SUV for unknown reasons.
The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital by responding paramedics in unknown condition, and is expected to be okay. The accident remains under investigation, and the driver that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
