The accident happened at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Chestnut Avenue, at an unspecified time of day. A small pickup truck later identified as a gray 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, struck a 62 year-old-man in the intersection and then fled the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died.
Authorities later discovered the responsible vehicle near Jackson Avenue and Thomas Avenue and arrested 23-year-old Carlos Meraz Gomez on Wednesday, as he is believed to be the hit and run suspect. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
