FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (January 16, 2017) – A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed on Monday evening at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Shepherd Avenue, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 7:00 pm at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Shepherd Avenue. 79 year old Howard Traugh was crossing eastbound on Chestnut Avenue, when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle.

Howard Traugh was rushed to nearby Community Regional Medical Center by responding emergency medical personnel, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver that struck Howard Traugh remained at the scene and attempted to render aid. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
