“DUI Driver Arrested”
FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (January 31, 2017) – California Highway Patrol reported a fatal DUI head-on collision on Tuesday morning, at approximately 4:40 a.m., on Jensen and Chateau Fresno Avenues. (map)
A DUI driver, identified as 31-year-old Jose Antonio Montano, was driving his Chevy Avalanche pickup truck when he veered his vehicle into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on into a Honda Accord, driven by 59-year-old Andres Mendoza. Sadly, Mendoza died at the scene of the crash. Montano blood alcohol level exceeded 0.08 percent and he was arrested by police for suspicion of drunk driving. Montano has been previously charged with a DUI in 2007 and has five previous charges of unlicensed driving.
Police are currently investigating the collision.
