FORT WAYNE, INDIANA (December 22, 2016) – One person was killed and 16 more were injured when a passenger bus collided head on with an SUV on U.S. 33, according to local news sources. (map)

The accident happened around 11:15 am on Thursday, on U.S. 33 near Churubusco. An SUV was traveling on US 33 when it abruptly veered into the path of an oncoming passenger bus carrying 40 people.

The driver of the SUV was killed in the ensuing collision, as well as his dog. The bus went into a ditch after the accident, and 16 of the 40 people on board were injured and hospitalized. The bus was owned by Barons Bus, and was traveling from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio. The investigation is ongoing.
