ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA (July 3, 2017) – A hot air balloon carrying 16 passengers and a pilot tipped over on Monday morning into a pond, according to a local news source. (map)
The balloon crashed on Monday morning after experiencing issues with wind. The pilot attempted to land in a nearby field but the balloon instead landed in a retention pond near a freeway. The balloon was carrying 16 passengers, most of which were reportedly children.
All those on board reportedly sustained some form of injury in the accident. Orlando Balloon Rides is reportedly the operator of the balloon, and released a statement saying they were “thrilled our pilot had the skills and training necessary to make that decision”. It is unclear why the balloon took off in the negative weather conditions, and the accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“Any injured party involved in an accident will have a bodily injury claim against the negligent party who caused the accident,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a personal injury law firm.
