Fatal Accident Under Investigation
FILLMORE, CALIFORNIA (December 19, 2016) – A 41-year-old woman from Fillmore was killed and several others were injured in a multiple vehicle wreck on Highway 126 and Center Street, reported the California Highway Patrol. (map)
The crash occurred at about 3:23 p.m. when the woman was waiting in her Ford to make a left turn from eastbound Highway 126 onto northbound Center Street.
The woman was rear-ended by a cargo van and pushed it into the westbound lanes where it collided with other vehicles.
Sadly, the Fillmore woman was ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Two children were injured in the crash. One of the children was critically injured and airlifted to Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks while a second child suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the cargo van, a 26-year-old man from Tulare, was taken to Ventura County Medical Center in unknown condition.
According to reports, the drivers and passengers of at least two other vehicles were also injured in the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
