JOLIET, ILLINOIS (September 26, 2017) – Three semi trucks were involved in a crash on Interstate 80 near Larkin Avenue in Joliet on Tuesday morning, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 6:10 am on the eastbound side of I-80 near Larkin Avenue. A FedEx truck had broken down and was parked on the right shoulder, and a second FedEx truck had arrived to assist the first truck and was parked behind it. A semi truck slammed into the two FedEx trucks on the shoulder, causing all three to catch on fire.
One of the FedEx drivers was killed in the accident. The driver of the semi that rear ended the two trucks was rushed to the hospital with severe burns. The second FedEx driver was not hospitalized. The accident remains under active investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
