The accident happened around 10:00 am at the intersection of F Street and Harris Street. Maria Bosnar, an 80 year old resident of Eureka, was crossing the intersection when she was struck by a Toyota pickup truck driven by a 57 year old man who had been attempting a left turn from Harris onto F.
Maria Bosnar was rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver that struck her remained at the scene, and initial reports indicate authorities do not believe he was intoxicated. The accident remains under investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
“According to experts drivers are responsible the majority of the time for pedestrian accidents. These collisions occur when drivers are careless and fail to yield in a crosswalk or when they turn right on a red light without looking out for a pedestrian,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm, a California pedestrian accident and personal injury law firm.
