ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA (January 26, 2017) – Four people were injured after a woman backed into a Trader Joe’s on North El Camino Real in Encintas on Thursday, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 2:40 pm in the 100 block of North El Camino Real. An 87 year old woman in a 2002 Honda Accord was backing out of a parking space when she mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal. She accelerated back into the store and struck four women.

One of the four women struck was rushed to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. Two more were taken to Scripps Encinitas Hospital. The fourth declined treatment at the scene. The elderly woman was confirmed to have been driving without a license, and the accident remains under investigation at this time.
