EMPIRE: Passenger Killed in Accident on Yosemite Boulevard and Codoni Avenue

EMPIRE, CALIFORNIA (January 7, 2017) – A pickup truck and a sedan collided on Saturday on Yosemite Boulevard, causing fatal injuries to a passenger in one of the vehicles, according to a local news source. (map)

The accident happened around 5:00 pm on Yosemite Boulevard near Codoni Avenue. A pickup truck and a Mitsubishi sedan collided for unknown reasons. Initial investigations state the Mitsubishi sedan was heading eastbound on Yosemite Boulevard while the pickup truck was heading westbound, and the reports state the Mitsubishi may have veered over into oncoming traffic.

The driver and one passenger of the Mitsubishi were both pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency medical personnel. The male passenger was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver was rushed to Doctors Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.
