ELK GROVE: One Killed in Semi-Truck Rollover Collision on Interstate 5 near Lambert Road

ELK GROVE, CALIFORNIA (March 1, 2017) – A semi-truck was involved in a fatal rollover accident on Wednesday evening on Interstate 5, according to a California Highway Patrol report. (map)

The accident happened around 7:50 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 5, near Lambert Road. A semi-truck hauling wood was involved in a collision with a vehicle, causing the semi truck to veer from the southbound side to the northbound side. The semi overturned before landing in a ditch and bursting into flames. The second involved vehicle ended up in the center divider, where it also caught on fire.

At least one person, identified as Matthew Micenheimer was tragically killed in the collision. The accident remains under active investigation at this time to determine cause and liability.
