EL SERENO, CALIFORNIA (February 22, 2017) – A female pedestrian, carrying her child, was struck by two cars while crossing Alhambra Street, near Endicott Street, on Wednesday night, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. in the 5200 block of Alhambra Avenue, near Endicott Street. A 32-year-old Hispanic female identified as Alicia Bello, was crossing the street with her two year old son in her arms, when she was struck by a car which fled the scene. The woman was then struck by a second car, which remained at the scene.
The woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel. Alicia Bello reportedly dropped or threw her son before she was hit, which potentially saved his life. The child was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The woman leaves behind three children, and lived in a home on the corner of Alhambra and Endicott.
Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver that was driving a dark colored Honda SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
