DUETTE, FLORIDA (March 4, 2017) – A pilot and a passenger were both killed in a small plane crash on Saturday, according to a local news source. (map)
The small plane, identified as a Hawker Beachcraft BE-60 was carrying a pilot and a passenger and had taken off from the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport around 1:00 pm. It crashed a short time later on Saturday afternoon near State Road 37 and State Road 62 for an unknown reason, sparking a 30 acre brush fire.
The pilot and passenger were both tragically pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Identifications of the two have not been released as of yet, but the investigation is ongoing at this time to determine cause and liability.
