The accident happened around 6:00 a.m. at the Santa Rita Jail off Broder Boulevard. 60-year-old Michael Foley, a 8 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Department and a 30 year veteran of the Concord Police Department, was struck by a bus driven by another Sheriff’s Deputy in the transportation yard. Michael Foley sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
The other sheriff’s deputy that was driving the bus said he did not see Foley due to it being dark in the area. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
