The accident happened on Thursday morning on Highway 52, about five miles north of Drake. A pickup truck heading eastbound veered into the westbound lanes for an unknown reason and collided head on with a semi-truck. The pickup truck spun out after the collision and came to rest on the shoulder. The semi-truck jackknifed, and the cab overturned and landed in a nearby ditch.

The driver of the pickup truck was tragically declared dead at the scene. The driver of the semi truck was extricated and rushed to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
