DODGE CITY, KANSAS (February 18, 2017) – A tragic accident claimed the lives of a mother and four of her children on Saturday on U.S. 50, according to a local news source. (map)

Anakary Romero was the driver of a minivan traveling westbound on U.S. 50 around 8:00 pm. Inside the minivan with her were four of her children, 12-year-old Edward Reynaga, 7-year-old Emily Reynaga, 5-year-old Evelyn Reynaga, and 21-month-old Edwin Reynaga. A semi-truck heading eastbound attempted to pass another semi truck by crossing the center divider into the westbound lanes, and crashed into Anakary’s minivan head on.

Anakary, Edward, Emily, and Edwin were all tragically pronounced dead at the scene. 5-year-old Evelyn was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but she tragically succumbed to her injuries the next day. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
