DETROIT, MICHIGAN (December 29, 2016) – A man was killed when his SUV collided with a DDOT bus on Thursday morning on Gratiot Avenue, according to several local news sources. (map)

The accident happened around 6:30 am on Gratiot Avenue near Jane Avenue. An SUV traveling northbound on Gratiot reportedly swerved into the southbound lanes and struck a bus head on.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. Five people on board the bus suffered injuries as well and were hospitalized for evaluation. The investigation into this accident is ongoing as authorities attempt to piece together what happened.
