DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA (February 20, 2017) – Two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash on Indian Canyon Drive and 13th Avenue Monday evening, according to police officials. (map)
The injury crash occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. The driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, 32-year-old Maria Amero, was traveling southbound on North Indian Canyon Drive when she veered into the northbound lanes. She then struck the front end of the driver of a 2014 Ford Focus, 22-year-old Davis Mesa, who traveling northbound on Indian Canyon. Both driver sustained major injuries and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. Amero and Davis were transported to Desert Regional for treatment of those injuries.
Amero was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, but not booked due to her injuries. Police are still investigating the crash.
