JOSHUA TREE, CALIFORNIA (June 28, 2017) – One person was killed after a collision on the Twentynine Palms Highway near Rotary Way on Wednesday morning, according to a local news source. (map)
Around 9:00 am, repots came in of a white truck trailing smoke and traveling at around 40 MPH heading eastbound on the Twentynine Palms Highway. As the smoking truck approached Rotary Way, it was rear ended by a U-Haul traveling at around 55 MPH driven by 68 year old David Lewis Heibel.
David Heibel was tragically pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the accident. The driver of the smoking truck was taken to the hospital as well in unknown condition. The accident remains under investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
