Driver of Delivery Truck Killed in Accident

DANVILLE CALIFORNIA (December 19, 2016) – A 26-year-old driver of a U.S. Postal Service delivery truck died when the vehicle flipped on its side on I-680 near El Pintado Road, reported NBC news. (map)

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on the 680 South Freeway near El Pintado Road.

The truck was hauling packages from Sacramento to San Jose, six days before the Christmas holiday.

For unknown reasons, the driver went off the road, struck a freeway sign, and appeared to have collided with a Ford Windstar minivan.

The victim was taken to the hospital with major injuries and pronounced dead before 7:00 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
