COTO DE CAZA, CALIFORNIA (December 18, 2017) – Melvyn Gruben was killed in a three car accident on Oso Parkway on Monday morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol and an article by the Orange County Register. (map)
The accident happened around 11:20 am when a Ford Econoline van was traveling west on Oso Parkway, heading towards Bridle Path. The driver of the van swerved into eastbound traffic, sideswiping a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, causing the truck to spin out. The van then slammed head on into a white Nissan Sentra sedan driven by Melvyn Gruben, causing it to spin up onto the sidewalk, and the van flipped over.
The driver of the Nissan, 79 year old Melvyn Gruben, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, a man in his 20s, was rushed to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries.
The accident remains under open investigation at this time to determine cause and liability, and the California Highway Patrol has not ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors at this time. Lexton Law is still receiving updates, and will continue to monitor this accident for more information.
“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all family members and friends as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
