COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA (September 25, 2017) – At least 4 people were injured by a falling tree on Monday at Shiffer Park in Costa Mesa, according to a local news source. (map)

The tree reportedly fell around 9:45 am at Shiffer Park, located in the 3000 block of Bear Street in Costa Mesa. 4 senior citizens were playing croquet under a 50 foot ficus tree when it partially collapsed, striking all four with branches.

At least 4 people were reportedly injured, and the Costa Mesa Fire Department responded. The injuries sustained ranged from minor to moderate, and three of the four injured were hospitalized after the accident.
