The accident happened around 12:45 pm in an alley between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue off of Orange Street. A 20 month old toddler identified as Cloe Cruz was playing in the alley along with her 10 year old sister when a car driving west in the alley struck Cloe.
Cloe was rushed to Palomar Medical Center where she tragically succumbed to her injuries later that day. The driver of the car has only been identified as a 33 year old woman. Cloe’s ten year old sister, Karina, said that she tried to get the drivers attention to warn her about Cloe, but was unable to do so in time. The accident remains under investigation.
