Cyclist Killed when struck by two vehicles near Guernville“Bicycle Fatality”

GUERNVILLE, CALIFORNIA (August 27, 2017) – 59-year-old Christopher Patti was involved in a vehicle collision on River Road just west of Summer Crossing Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. (map)

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. Patti was on the right shoulder of the road when the driver of a BMW lost control of the vehicle and struck Patti as he was looking at his cellphone. The driver traveled west, changed direction and drove back toward Guernville.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and pronounced Patti dead at the scene.

A license plate was found at the scene. 28-year-old Jonathan Ritter is listed as the person of interest in the collision, according to CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat.

An investigation is ongoing. CHP is asking anyone, who may have information about the accident, to please contact CHP at (707) 588-1400.
