CHINO, CALIFORNIA (April 9, 2017) – Two pedestrians were killed and four more were injured in a church parking lot on Sunday evening, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened in the parking lot of the East Sarang Community Church off Schaefer Avenue in Chino. A driver was attempting to reverse out of his parking spot when he backed into a crowd of pedestrians, then accelerated across the parking lot and crashed into a building.
Two of the pedestrians, both females, were pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV and his passenger also were injured in the accident, which remains under open investigation. It is unknown at this time whether the car suffered a mechanical malfunction.
