“Deadly Collision ”
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 12, 2017) – At least one person was killed in an accident on Sunday evening on Interstate 290, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 9:45 pm on the eastbound side of Interstate 290, near Damen Avenue. A white Mercedes had been seen speeding away from an attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault in the west side, and was later seen getting onto Interstate 290. The Mercedes collided with a second car of unidentified make and model. One of the vehicles ended up flipped over as a result of the accident.
At least one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and was identified as Mario C. Shields, an 18 year old. Mario Shields was reportedly inside the Mercedes, but it is unknown if he was driving or a passenger. Another person was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, and two others in critical condition were rushed to Stroger Hospital. Three others were taken to Rush University Medical Center in unknown condition. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
