CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (May 7, 2017) – Four people were killed and five were injured in a horrible crash on Chicago’s West Side on Sunday, according to a local news source. (map)
The accident happened around 5:55 am in the 2600 block of Madison Street in Garfield Park. A CTA bus was traveling east on Madison Street when a white passenger sedan traveling westbound crashed into a parked car and then hit the bus head on. The impact caused the sedan to catch on fire, and the four people inside the car were pinned inside the vehicle.
All four people inside the vehicle were rushed to a local hospital, but were tragically pronounced dead as a result of their injuries. Two have been identified as 25 year old Ashley Moore and 22 year old Tycika Fairley. The bus driver and four passengers were hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Initial investigations indicate there have been 1,058 cases of collisions between CTA buses and other vehicles since 2012. The current collision remains under open investigation to determine cause and liability at this time.
