CHICAGO: Kelly Harris Identified as visually impared woman killed in Metra crash

“Investigation Ongoing”

CHICAGO, IL (November 7, 2017) – Kelly Harris has been identified as the woman killed after being hit by a Metra train Monday night, according to a local news source.

Mrs. Harris was visually impaired and waiting at the side of the tracks when the Metra train clipped her. A spokesperson for Metra stated that the engineer engaged the brakes and sounded the horn but could not stop in time. There are also reports that the engineer did not see the woman until after she was struck. Local authorities are still investigating.

Her service dog was also injured, but survived. Mrs. Harris was taken to the hospital, where her husband of 25 years was told that she had lost a leg. She succumbed to her injuries later that night.

“Sadly, there are no words that can comfort all the family members and friends of Kelly Harris as they cope with such tragic loss,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties affected in this tragedy as they try to piece together what happened.”
