The accident occurred around 12:30 pm on Wednesday, and a vehicle and a train collided on 6000 Road for unknown reasons, resulting in serious injuries.

The four people injured were taken to Labette Health in Parsons, and one was then transferred to a Joplin hospital. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause and liability.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said Attorney from Lexton Law Firm.
