The accident happened around 7:08 am. 64 year old Miguel Vigil Ruelas was struck by a train, which did not stop and continued on down the track immediately. Miguel Ruelas was a truck driver that was reportedly delivering a load to A.L. Gilbert Co, which is nearby.

Miguel Vigil Ruelas was tragically pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The accident remains under investigation, and authorities located and stopped the involved train.

“Almost one death or injury per day occurs on the rail system in the United States. Many of these tragic deaths are avoidable, the rail system is antiquated and needs a complete overhaul to ensure the safety of pedestrians, drivers, and train passengers,” said the attorneys from Lexton Law Firm.
